Preddy Creek Trail Park
Preddy Creek has 10 miles of trails, and mountain biking is not the only activity that you can enjoy here. Expert riders will like the Advanced Mountain Bike Trail that was just added, but weary riders should avoid this trail if they do not trust their skills. The technical features are unavoidable once you begin, so it's wise to take a look at the posted kiosk signs in the park before you take the plunge.
McIntire Park
McIntire is a Charlottesville city park, but it has 2-3 miles of trails for mountain bikers. The terrain is moderate and leads you thru mature hardwood trees; some of the trails have logs that you can maneuver and there are a few creek crossings.
Observatory Hill
This area is sometimes referred to as O-Hill and it's located near the University of Virginia grounds. You'll find lots of short, steep and rocky terrain. You'll find it hard to believe you are near the center of town.
Big Levels / Sherando Lake
The trails around Sherando Lake are some of the most beautiful and scenic in the area. You can enjoy riding thru parts of the George Washington National Forest and near Sherando Lake. This massive mountain biking system is amazing and features countless trails that interconnect and lead to one another. Sherando Lake Recreation Area is a great place to start.
