Tour de Valley Bike Race

virginia cabin rentalsJoin us for the Tour de Valley bike race next month. We have two Virginia cabin rentals available for that weekend – Rockwood Cabin and Barnwood Cabin. The Tour de Valley bike race event hosted in Waynesboro is set for September 12th. The event began in 1988 and today features a Century and Metric Century that takes you through some of the most stunning areas of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley region. The challenging route goes through Augusta and Rockbridge counties and begins at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro and leads cyclists through Gosh Pass and back. This 28 year tradition brings people from all over the country to compete. Registration and tickets can be purchased for $60 online on their website page www.runthevalley.com/tourdevalley

For a ticket price you’ll receive, a scenic tour of the Shenandoah Valley, tech t-shirt, stocked aid stations, SAG vehicle support on the course, and a great after party at the War Memorial Pool in Ridgeview Park. Each participant will be able to enjoy, pizza, subs, and beer from our very own locally owned and operated sponsor Seven Arrows Brewing Company! The Tour de Valley finishes at Ridgeview Park, War Memorial Pool where you can enjoy a hot shower and a cool swim. Event coordinators are excited that a portion of the proceeds from this year’s race will be donated to the Woodard Memorial Scholarship Fund at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro.  This is a need based scholarship that is awarded at graduation each year.

The course will be open to traffic, with support from local law enforcement at key intersections.  You have the same rights and duties as drivers. Obey traffic signals and signs. Ride with traffic; use the rightmost lane headed in the direction you are going. NO HELMET, NO RIDE! Ride day registration will be from 6:30 AM- 7:15 AM. You must be at least 16 years old on or before September 1, 2015 to participate. Course time limit will be 8 hours. Massage will be offered for the cost $1 per minute with a 15 minute minimum.  Integrated Health Therapies can accept cash or card at the event so come prepared to relax after!

From I-64, take Exit 94. When you get off the exit ramp, go East on Route 340 towards Waynesboro. Proceed approximately 2 miles. At the traffic light at Riverview Cemetery, turn right onto 13th Street. At the stop sign turn right onto Magnolia Avenue. Magnolia ends at the park.
