In the early 1970’s investors visited our mountainous region and deemed it perfect for a ski area as it receives excellent temperatures for snow making and several inches of natural snow each year. In just a few years both Wintergreen Ski Resort and Massanutten Ski Resort had opened in Virginia and offered several Virginia skiing slopes. Offering only a few trails each, both resorts have grown a great deal over the years and are today, full scale Virginia Ski Resorts offering not only excellent snow skiing trails but also snow tubing, ice skating, and plenty more.

Wintergreen Ski Resort is the closest Virginia ski area to our Mountain Cabins in Virginia and is a great place for the whole family to enjoy. With its excellent location and nice ski runs, Wintergreen is always a favorite.

Massanutten Ski Resort is a bit further away from our Cabins in the Virginia Mountains; however it is also a great place to enjoy. Known for being the first ski resort in Virginia to offer snowboarding and snow tubing, Massanutten Ski Resort was also the first ski resort in Virginia to bring in a quad chairlift and lighting for night skiing. Also, Massanutten’s 1,110 feet vertical drop is the highest and longest in all of Virginia and it beats out others in Maryland and Pennsylvania as well.
