Over the years, many cycling groups and individuals have made Cabin Creekwood their destination of choice for a cycling vacation. Here’s why…
You’ll Find Awesome Hill Training to Build those Cycling Muscles
The grueling five-mile, 2,600-foot climb up Wintergreen Mountain might be the most difficult, but it is not the only hill to be conquered. As home of the Devil’s Backbone Mountain Cross & Blue Ridge Metric, a USA Cycling event held in May, the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains provide a great opportunity for some serious hill training. Even riders like Greg LeMond in the former Tour DuPont (1991 – 1996) considered this area to be the toughest part of that distinguished race.
You’ll See Beautiful Scenery
Spectacular scenery awaits, whether gazing out across the Rockfish or Shenandoah Valley, to peering up at the Blue Ridge Mountains, to exploring the rolling farmland nearby. Cruise alongside a rushing mountain stream. Stop and linger at one of the many overlooks. Drop into a local, hole-in-the-wall café for a tasty lunch. And then make your way back to Cabin Creekwood for a peaceful night of rest.
We’ve Mapped Out Cool Loop Rides For You
No need to plan your routes from scratch. A cycling group from New England, who for years made Cabin Creekwood their hub for spring training, provided a series of loop rides for us to share with our cycling guests. A variety of loops, up to 93 miles, have already been planned out for you. These loops vary in length and difficulty, and each loop begins and ends right at Cabin Creekwood!
You’ll Get Clean, Comfortable, Fully-Furnished Lodging
You can’t go wrong with Cabin Creekwood. Each cabin is a private, stand-alone house in a quiet, peaceful mountain setting, complete with outdoor living space. Guests frequently rave at how clean and well furnished they are.
You’ll Have Full Kitchens
No need to eat out all the time. Our full kitchens provide everything you need for meal preparation. Each kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster. In addition, you’ll find dishes, silverware, pots & pans, and dish cloths. All you need to bring is the food!
You’ll Get A Jump Start On Your Spring Training
And finally, a cycling vacation at Cabin Creekwood is a great way to jumpstart spring training. Many groups and individuals, especially those from Quebec and the New England states, have made Cabin Creekwood their destination of choice. March, April, and May provide excellent cycling opportunities, well before the north begins to show signs of spring.
