Is There Life Outside of Facebook

Jordan and her RoommateEarlier this month Deb and I journeyed to a remote village in Mexico to celebrate the 18th birthday of our daughter Jordan. Jordan has been living in Mexico since January 18, and will remain there until August 9. Why, you might ask? It is because of her passion for missions. Ever since she traveled to Panama on a short term mission trip at the tender age of 14, Jordan has been consumed with missions. So much so that she finished up her senior year at Stuarts Draft High School a semester early, just so she could attend the Dayspring Missionary Training program.

While in Mexico, we had very limited internet access and no cell phone service at all! At first, it took some getting used to. We are so connected in our daily lives that we don’t know how to act when those connections are taken away. To be totally honest, we probably went through a bit of withdrawal.

It took a day or so, but finally we began to relax. We re-connected with Jordan and learned to know her friends. We went for walks. We talked for hours. We read. We journaled. We took naps. We picked and ate grapefruit and oranges from Dayspring’s citrus groves.

And you know what? Not only did we survive, but we really enjoyed being disconnected from the rest of the world. There really is life outside of Facebook! And it is good!
What does any of this have to do with Cabin Creekwood? Everything! It is critical to our mental, physical, and spiritual health to step aside from the demands of daily life, to unplug from the world for a time, and to reconnect with each other and with God.

Cabin Creekwood can help this to happen by becoming YOUR truly restful getaway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia! Cell phones hardly work here, internet service is only available in some of our cabins, and nature is waiting right outside the door.

One of our regular guests commented to me back in October, “Every year, my daughter forgets that we won’t have internet at Cabin Oakwood. She goes through withdrawal for about a day, and then she has a great time!”

What about you? Do you need a break from all the demands that technology places on your life? You can take one, right there at home. Every device has an off button. I challenge you to use it on a regular basis.

And if you need to get a little further away, Cabin Creekwood is waiting.

You can book YOUR truly restful getaway by visiting www.cabincreekwood.com, and entering dates that would work for you. You will see which cabins are available, and the pricing and packages associated with those cabins.
