All American Honor Guard Hosts the 16th Annual Military History Weekend

The All American Honor Guard hosts the 16th annual Military History Weekend at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro, VA on June 9 and 10, 2012.  This living history event provides a unique opportunity to explore and learn about our nation’s military history.  Conflicts represented by the All American Honor Guard include:

  • Colonial Wars / French and Indian War 1641
  • American Revolutionary War 1776
  • War with England 1812
  • War with Mexico 1847
  • War between the American States (Civil War) 1861
  • The Indian Wars and Buffalo Soldiers 1876
  • War with Spain 1898
  • World War I 1917
  • World War II 1941
  • Korea 1950
  • Viet Nam 1961
  • Grenada & Panama 1980s
  • Iraq 1991 & 2003

 

The All American Honor Guard seeks to portray the lives of our soldiers, sailors, and marines with exhibits of authentic uniforms, equipment, firearms, camps, and vehicles from selected periods.  Uniformed re-enactors will provide detailed explanations of the displays, including blank firing of weapons.

 

In addition to the Military History Weekend, the Honor Guard participates in a variety of parades, Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, educational displays, and re-enactments.

 

The event will be held from 9 to 5 on both days, and is open to the public with free admission.
